The entertainment industry in Ghana is becoming dangerous and the stakeholders are becoming more and more intolerant in recent times with death threats and mysterious deaths flying around us life flies.

Kwaw Kese’s manager Fennec Okyere’s brutal murder has been liked to death threats, the arrest of Shatta Wale’s manager Bulldog is linked to death threats and the latest victim of similar threats is Hi-Life musician Kofi B also known as Kofi Boakye Yiadom.

The “Kofouridua Flowers” singer has received serious death threats from some faceless person after he spoke about the alleged corrupt activities currently going on at the Ghana Association Music Right Owners (GHAMRO) and the interim board chairman Carlos Sakyi.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Peace FM’s ‘Entertainment Review’, Kofi B disclosed that some unknown person has called his phone and threatened to kill him like how Kwaw Kese’s manager Fennec Okyere was killed.

According to Kofi B the person called him with an unknown number on Thursday May 15, 2014 whiles he was receiving eye treatment at the Agogo hospital.

Kofi said the person refused to mention his name but only asked him (Kofi B) “Did you see how Fennec was killed and I said yes and he said then I should stop talking about GHAMRO issues and Carlos Sakyi. He asked how many songs or how many albums do I have to be talking like that and he warned me that if I don’t stop talking I will die like how Fennec died”, Kofi narrated.

Kofi said he told the unknown caller to tell whoever sent him that he (Kofi) is a musician and things about GHAMRO affects him direct so he can’t stop talking.

Kofi B is one of the strong voices among other musicians who have been calling on the interim Chairman of GHAMRO, Carlos Sekyi and the rest of his team to account for royalties they collected on their behalf and to explain why the board was still in office when the organization’s constitution said it shall remain in office for a maximum of two years, which elapsed in May 2013.

Kofi B recently cautioned Carlos Sekyi and his team to step down and account for all the money they have collected or face their wrath.

“They should resign from that position or else we would beat them but of course they need to account for every pesewa before they resign. You can’t sit in the offices and allocate any amount of money for yourselves as allowances. When was the last time Carlos Sekyi and his people released musical materials? You sit there and eat from our sweat,” he stated.

It appears these phone threats have become major concern in Ghana.
The artiste manager, the late Fennec Okyere was also murdered in cold blood barely a month after he had publicly stated that he had received death threats over industry related issues.

Kofi B revealed on Neat FM’s “Entertainment Ghana” this morning that he has reported the matter to the police.
