CHRAJ Clears Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng Amid Dual Identity Allegations

Written by on November 26, 2024

In a surprising turn of events, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has exonerated Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng from allegations of holding dual identities and engaging in questionable dealings.

The controversy began in January 2023 when Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, petitioned CHRAJ to investigate Rev. Kusi Boateng, who also serves as Secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees.

Ablakwa accused him of possessing two passports under different names—Victor Kusi Boateng and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi—and raised concerns about a conflict of interest involving a GH¢2.6 million cash transfer.

However, CHRAJ’s report has debunked these claims, revealing that Rev. Kusi Boateng only holds a single passport under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. The investigation found no evidence that he had ever been issued a passport bearing the name Kusi Boateng.

Regarding the contentious GH¢2.6 million transfer to JNS Talent Centre Limited, owned by Rev. Kusi Boateng under his alternate identity, CHRAJ uncovered no foul play.

Instead, the Commission clarified that Rev. Kusi Boateng had acted as a financial lifeline for the National Cathedral project. Facing financial struggles at the time, the National Cathedral Secretariat relied on him to pay contractors on their behalf. The transferred funds were merely a reimbursement for his personal contribution to keeping the project afloat.

This revelation not only clears Rev. Kusi Boateng but also raises questions about the accuracy of the initial allegations, leaving the public to ponder the motives behind the petition.
