Movie producer Socrates Safo is hot over reports that his newly released movie, ‘Amen’, was actually written and directed to tell the life story of Bishop Daniel Obinim, leader of the International God’s Way Church.
Bishop Obinim, husband of gospel singer Florence Obinim, not too long ago, became a subject of news over revelations that he had maintained a secret love affair with the wife of a junior pastor of his church, Pastor Williams Fobi, and bonked her for four years until she got fed up with his sex demands and reported the case to her husband.
“Socrates had this in mind when he was directing the movie, he actually said it on location several times and said he wanted to change the name of the movie from ‘Amen’ to ‘Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah’ but that would be too obvious so he maintained the original title.
He said the movie was just to re-enact the reports of Obinim’s sex scandals and that is what the movie is actually about; pastors who take advantage of their church members and have sex with them,” one of Socrates’ production team members told NEWS-ONE.
He threatened to release a video recording of Socrates making the said confession, if the producer denied the story.
When NEWS-ONE called Socrates over the report, he declined to comment and accused the paper of contracting persons in his production team to spy and snitch on him.
‘Amen’ has generated some heat after nude behind-the-scene photos of some of the cast got leaked to the media.
Instead of investigating how the photos got leaked, Socrates rather directed his anger at the media and blamed NEWS-ONE in particular for publishing the photos.
He is also reported to have compensated the particular persons whose nakedness was captured in the leaked photos.
The adulterous relationship between Bishop Obinim and his church member continued until the lady started having problems with the man of God.
She eventually narrated the shocking revelation to her husband.
Pastor Fobi said he had resigned from the church because of the matter and had reported the case to a number of leading pastors.
Obinim is noted for repeating endless chants of ‘hallelujah”, “hallelujah”, “hallelujah”, “hallelujah”, “hallelujah”, “hallelujah”, during his preaching programme on TV.
He drives very expensive cars and has a couple of houses in Kumasi and Accra.
The man of God has over the years been the lead character of several scandals and controversies.
