Written by on May 31, 2025

In a groundbreaking move to tackle youth unemployment, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced a strategic partnership with dancehall superstar Charles Nii Armah-Mensah Jr. popularly known as Shatta Wale and his innovative transport platform, SHAXI.

The collaboration aims at creating thousands of job opportunities for young Ghanaians while revolutionizing the transport sector.

Fueling Opportunities for Young Drivers
As part of the initiative, YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles registered under the SHAXI platform with GHC500 worth of fuel coupons every month for six months. This incentive is designed to reduce operational costs for drivers and encourage more youth to venture into the transport business.

24-Hour Operations, Double Employment

To further maximize job creation, SHAXI vehicles operating on a 24-hour basis will receive additional incentives. This shift system ensures that at least two young people can be employed per vehicle, doubling income opportunities while keeping the transport service running efficiently day and night.

A Public-Private Game-Changer
CEO of YEA, Malik Basintale, emphasized that this partnership represents a bold step in leveraging innovation and star power to drive real impact.

What’s Next?
With this partnership, YEA and SHAXI are set to redefine youth employment strategies by combining technology, entertainment, and policy.

The program is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, with registrations open to eligible drivers and operators.
