Popular UK radio show host Tim Westwood on Thursday, May 24, 2012 announced that he has been ‘sacked’ from his 1Xtra Drivetime Show.

‘It’s official I’ve lost my afternoon voice due to schedule changes I will not be presentin 1Xtra Mon-Fri 4-7pm from Sept‘, @TimWestwood tweeted a few hours ago.

He later tweeted; ‪#Westwoodyourfired‬.

This came shorty after BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra controller Ben Cooper today announced a number of changes to 1Xtra’s schedule which will see rising star Charlie Sloth take over the station’s weekday early evening show, while new signing Yasmin Evans joins the network to present the weekend Breakfast Show.

Cooper has also announced that as part of the changes Tim Westwood gets a brand new Sunday show on 1Xtra from 7-9pm and he will continue to present his seminal Saturday night show, simulcast across Radio 1 and 1Xtra, which brings listeners all the latest hip-hop news and sounds.

‘Tim has proved to be one of the most influential figures in UK hip-hop and I’m delighted that he will continue to bring his wealth of knowledge and unique style to Radio 1 and 1Xtra across the weekends‘, Cooper said.

‘It’s been a lot of fun and a great experience’, Westwood was quoted to have said.
