Adum PZ Fire Victims Overjoyed as Government Donates GH₵600,000 for Recovery Efforts

The government and officials have stepped up to support victims of last Friday’s Adum PZ and Blue Light inferno, which affected over 5,000 traders and shop owners.
The Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and MASLOC CEO Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah on Sunday 23rd March 2025 met with affected traders to assess the damage and provide relief.
The fire destroyed businesses and livelihoods, leaving many in distress. Dr. Amoakohene conveyed President John Dramani Mahama’s sympathies to the victims. He assured them of the government’s commitment to their recovery.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Amoakohene shared details of the engagement, stating:
Earlier this afternoon, together with the Hon. Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection @Hon Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and the CEO of MASLOC, Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah, we engaged the leadership of the affected traders at Adum PZ and Blue Light following the recent devastating fire outbreak. On behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, I conveyed his deepest sympathies for their losses and his unwavering commitment to supporting them as they recover and rebuild their businesses.
Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah pledged their institutions’ support. An immediate donation of Ghc 100,000 was made to assist the most vulnerable victims.
Dr. Amoakohene also announced an earlier Ghc 500,000 donation from a philanthropist. This will support students, widows, and single parents affected by the fire.

He emphasized unity, adding in his post:

The victims expressed their joy and gratitude after meeting the Regional Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council on Sunday, 23rd March 2025. Many described the meeting as a turning point in their recovery journey. One trader, Madam Akosua Mensah, shared,
