Ashanti Festival Kicks Off with Cleanup Exercise and Thrilling Soccer Fiesta

The much-anticipated ASHANTI FESTIVAL, a two-week-long celebration initiated by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, officially commenced today with a massive Cleanup Exercise across Kumasi and all districts in the region. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from security services, students, NDC youth wings, residents, government officials, and local leaders, all coming together to promote cleanliness and community spirit.
The festival continued with an exciting Inter-District Soccer Games at the Paa Joe Stadium, featuring thrilling matches that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The opening game saw Benab FC triumph over Asokwa FC in a fiercely contested lower-division clash.
However, the highlight of the day was the electrifying encounter between the Media All-Stars and the Kumawood Stars.
The Media team, boasting big names like Daniel Kenu (OTEC FM), Tony Montana (Kessben FM), Odeefour Qwasi Kay (Ashh FM), Sly, Krobea Messi (Class Media), was captained by Franko Naro (Kessben FM).
On the other side, the Kumawood Stars showcased Ghana’s finest movie talents, including Michael Afrane, Papa Kumasi, Sunsum Ahuofe, Asare Bediako, 39/40, Gubshot, Dr. Likee, Wayoosi, and Sylvester Agyapong aka Sly. The match was a spectacle of skill, humor, and friendly rivalry, delighting the packed stadium.

The event was graced by high-profile guests, including Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister; Kofi Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation; Sharaf Mahama, First Son of Ghana and CEO of Legacy Promotions; Ampofo Ankrah, CEO of the National Sports Authority; and Rex Omar, CEO of the Black Star Experience.
Their presence added prestige to the festival, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sports, entertainment, and community development.
As the festival progresses, fans can look forward to a BOXING NIGHT under Sharaf Mahama’s Legacy Promotions, promising an evening of thrilling bouts. The event was expertly hosted by top media personalities, including Bright Kankam Boadu, Oliver Khan (The Ship Dealer), King Eben, and Delali Atiaseu, who kept the energy high throughout the day.
