Papa Kumasi is a Ghanaian movie actor, director, producer and musician. Born Clement Sarfo on 6th June, 1983 in Ash Town, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Papa Kumasi, the 5th of 6 children (4 girls and 2 boys) was born to Mr. Gabriel Yiadom Boakye (former teacher of Barekuma Junior Secondary School near Barekese in the Ashanti Region) and trader Madam Philomina Adoma (both deceased)
A viccinity in the heart of the city, just a stone throw from the Manhyia Palace and grandfather, Nana Agyemang Nkwantabisa, a chief (Otumfuo Adontenhene), he developed the love for drumming, dancing and drama at a very tender age but aimed at becoming a pilot in future.
Papa Kumasi attended True Light of Christ International School (Abrepo Highways Junction) and completed his basic school at Calvary Temple Junior Secondary School.
He proceeded to Toase Secondary School, in the same Region where he read General Arts. In secondary school, now senior high, Clement Sarfo as known in private life, upgraded his “Saka” language (reverse speech) which he learnt on the streets of Ash Town and made his hallmark.
Kumasi’s passion for entertainment grew immensely as he never missed a single entertainment activity on campus. He contested for entertainment prefect portfolio but was kicked-out by the vetting committee because according to them, the most popular student on campus was a trouble maker.
After Senior High School, In 2005 the “wanna actor” went to auditioned for a role in Reveled Films popular TV series “Hotel St. James“, at the Georgia Hotel in Kumasi, and eventually earned a role as a taxi driver. He was also starred in another project, “Home Sweet Home” the in 2006.
Papa Kumasi, after two successful roles in the aforementioned series, met a Kumasi based movie producer, Eric Asante of blessed memory and got another feature in a No Limit Productions’ “Student’s Desire” in 2008.
As most movie stars became popular with some roles they played in movies, Papa Kumasi also became popular from a scene in a Jones Agyemang directed film, titled “Roman Sisters“. A money lender received a huge sums of money from his gang for keep, whiles the money was in his room, he brings in a prostitute, “Matilda Asare” who double crossed him and stole the money. Ras Nene, the gang leader warned him to stop playing smart like the smartest person in Kumasi, Papa Kumasi, and threatened to kill him if he fails to give them the money.
Abusua Do Funu from Pat Thomas Movie Productions in 2009 got him debut feature movie role. He has since played several roles in several movies including; As3m Aba Ghana (ODK Productions), Roman Sisters (J.A. Films), Jericho Afasuo (Ashbowa Productions), Lilwin Assembly Man (Ashbowa Productions), School Devil, Yellow Sisi (McBrown Productions), Adanfo B)ne (Batman), and others.
His popularity on the screens landed him a contract with a Kumasi based Digital terrestrial television television network, Royal TV, as a host of the channel’s entertainment program dubbed “Anigyie Fie”
His production house, Teamciano Productions, has produced quite a number of TV series that airs on television and other streaming platforms.
