Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has been endorsed as Ghana’s first choice as
the team prepares for its third World Cup appearance in Brazil.
Prior to this confirmation, Ghanaian
soccer fans had wondered who will wear the crown as Ghana’s first choice
at the World Cup but the claim from Kwesi Appiah has put all issues
surrounding who will step up in post for Ghana to absolute rest.
The declaration means, but for any
unforeseen circumstances, the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Fatau will
start for Ghana when the Black Stars come up against USA on June 16th.
Kwesi Appiah endorsed Fatau Dauda as his number after he is said to have
been highly impressed with performance at training since the squad got
together under him to prepare for the World Cup in Brazil.
Asked who will be his first choice goalkeeper Coach Kwesi Appiah is
said to have reiterated that “I think without doubt Fatau Dauda is our
first choice. This is not to say that Kwarasey is not good to start but
we must understand that only one can start at a time”.
“All three goalkeepers are in good shape but Fatau remains our number 1 for now”.
