The Police Administration “is offering a cash reward of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc20,000) to any person or persons who will volunteer credible information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in the murder of Fennec Okyere”.
The offer came in an official statement released in Accra on Friday. It comes over a month after assailants stabbed Fennec to death in his private off the Spintex Road, Accra
The Police statement, signed by the Commissioner – Criminal Investigative Department (CID) at the National Police Headquarters, P.K Agblor, also called on persons with information on the killers to “contact the Police on 0302773695, 0302773906, 0302761733 or report to the Public Affairs Directorate at the National Police Headquarters.”
Before his untimely death, Fennec was the manager of controversial hip-life artiste, Kwaw Kesse.
Shortly after news of his death hit the news media, Radio personality Abeiku Santana, who has had several business dealings with Fennec Okyere, revealed that the deceased had, prior to his demise, received various death threats.
“There was an attack on him which he confirmed to me [Abeiku Santana] that he was away in Sudan and robbers attacked him. They took away his pump action gun, his television and some personal [effects],” he told Accra-based Joy FM.
Abeiku also said the killers entered the deceased’s house through the back wall during a blackout around 11:00PM, Wednesday, 12th March, 2014 “so they cut the razor wire (the security wire on the wall) and made their way into the house.”
He said the assailants apparently broke into two separate rooms before finally finding Fennec in a third room where he was apparently sleeping.
“You can see some struggle,” he said. “They dragged him, he was naked.”
Fennec, he said, was lying face down in a pool of blood when a team of friends entered the house.
On Wednesday, family spokesperson, Ursula Owusu Ekufful – MP for Ablekuma West – announced that Fennec’s body will laid to rest on Saturday April 26, 2014.
