Deputy Communication’s Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku, has expressed disappointment at how the NPP election petition is being handled, leading to a point where a Kenyan Attorney General made mockery of it.

His comment comes on the heels of how the Kenyan Supreme Court was able to resolve the Kenyan electoral dispute within three weeks.

At one of their sitting, the Kenyan Attorney General, Githu Muigai, following complaints from the petitioners that the ruling has delayed was reported to have said: “As my Lords are aware, as we speak here today the Supreme Court of Ghana is sitting on the election dispute relating to their election which was undertaken in December and they are slower than we are and I think we should take a little credit for the sort of enthusiasm that this court has brought to a timeous disposal of this matter.”

Speaking on the issue as a panelist on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ with host Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Samuel Awuku said: “I felt embarrassed when I heard him (Kenyan Attorney General) saying that.

We applaud the Supreme Court of Ghana for their efforts however, we will plead with them to be more faster in resolving the issue; so that Ghanaians can move on with their lives”.

Samuel Awuku indicated that the only lesson that can be drawn from the Kenyan Supreme Court ruling is how the whole sitting was televised.

“Millions of Ghanaians will appreciate it when the ruling is showed live on TV. With that they will see what exactly went on”, he indicated.
