“Just Apologize to Ghanaians” – Shatta Wale Tells NPP Over Betting Tax Claims

Written by on March 12, 2025

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has called on former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adams to apologize to Ghanaians after he denied the implementation of the betting tax under the Akufo-Addo administration.

During a press briefing on March 11, Amin Adams claimed that the government never collected revenue from the betting tax, despite passing the law in 2023.

The betting tax that they say they have abolished, we never collected it. So, to come and tell Ghanaians that you’ve abolished something that was never implemented is to deceive the people of Ghana,”

he stated.

Shatta Wale, however, disagreed and took to social media to express his frustration. In a fiery post, he mocked the former minister and questioned his statement.

“Please sir, who is the ‘We’ you’re talking about? Or are you referring to ‘Wee’?” Shatta Wale wrote. “Cuz it’s true, ‘Wee’ cannot implement that… It’s wicked people like you who can do that. Or do you think the ‘We’ is just you and your coat? You forget you worked under the NPP government? Which ‘We’ are you referring to?”

He continued,

Don’t make me bore. Just apologize to Ghanaians, or your ‘We’ party will wee wee, and we will not vote for ‘we’ again.

Shatta Wale’s reaction has sparked discussions on social media, with many Ghanaians weighing in on the controversy surrounding the betting tax and its implementation.
