The Police has released the president of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association, Charles Offei-Palm after being arrested early Thursday.
The association, led by Mr. Offei-Palm has accused the board and management of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital for mismanaging internally generated funds including buying luxurious vehicles.
The association has therefore petitioned the President over the matter.
The Board chair of the hospital, Edward Annan has denied the accusation leveled against the board and management but he also alleged that they have been receiving death threats by some unknown persons regarding the issue at hand.
A senior staff at the hospital, who spoke on Citi Prime News on condition of anonymity, confirmed the arrest which is said to have occurred around 10am, Thursday.
“Our president was picked up a few hours ago but information we are gathering is that he has been released and is on his way back to the hospital.”
It is unclear the reason for his arrest but the senior staff told Citi News he strongly suspects Mr. Offei-Palm was picked up by the Police “because of the kind of facts he was talking about with management.”
He however, served notice that the arrest will not intimidate the members of the association as they will continue in their quest to hold the management and board accountable.
“It can never affect any of us. It is an intimidation by Eddie Annan [Board chair] and the board members and the acting CEO. They can go ahead but we will not give up,” he warned.
