Multiple award-winning Ghanaian Highlife/Afrobeat singer Kuami Eugene, “The Rockstar”, has announced his five-track debut External Play “EP” titled Afro-Highlife in a private listening on Wednesday, November 10, at The Basement Bar & Lounge in Kumasi. The 24year old Lynx Entertainment signee who doubles as a music producer, told the media, he produced 4 tracks on the EP, namely; “Fire Fire“, “Bunker” (which is currently trending number one Ghanaian music on video blogging network, YouTube, with over 1.3m views in a month), “Shake“, Demigod and played a major role in the last track “Tena Fie“, with assistance from the legendary Ghanaian Highlife artiste, George Darko, Richie Mensah, and Afro Harmony.
The 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the year, during the private listening hosted by Kessben Media’s Peter Kesse “Mr. Bonez”, stated, he launched his debut album “Rockstar” and climaxed it with a concert in Kumasi and eventually had a fantastic album, so thought it wise to also release his first EP in the exact location.
I remember I released my first album here in Kumasi, had powerful people like these, we had a chit-chat and the inputs everyone brought helped me and we had an amazing album, that was the Rockstar Album”
So I thought as much, it will be just wise to come back to where I started, where I dropped my first album is where I should drop my first EP”
On why he titled the EP Afro-Highlife? The Rockstar described it as the fusion of Afrobeat, (which is currently trending and dominating in the world) and our original Ghanaian Highlife Music.
Amerado Burner, Zack Gh, Kweku Flick, and selected media personalities were in attendance to support the project.
