President John Dramani Mahama has urged all Ghanaians to remain vigilant against the seeds of division that destroy a nation, whiles calling for healing words, honest dealings, generous compassion, and upright conduct from all Ghanaians.

Speaking at the maiden edition of the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of the State House, President John Dramani acknowledged the beautiful coexistence of persons of different faith, encouraging all Ghanaians to continue to live in harmony.

He pointed out that true thanksgiving extends beyond mere words and must be reflected in the daily conduct of citizens and leaders alike. Quoting James 2 verse 17, he asserted, “faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.”

As we pray and give thanks, let us also renew our commitment to living out our faith through truth, love, and service to our nation,”

President Mahama urged.

The service, which brought together leaders of various faiths and political figures, marked a moment of spiritual reflection and national purpose, underscoring the importance of unity and shared responsibility in building a better Ghana.

Addressing the conduct of public officeholders and reiterating his commitment to the rule of law, President Mahama was emphatic that “a just Ghana” requires that “leadership must be grounded in justice.”

Even the Office of the President, which, by the grace of God, I now hold, is not above the law. Leadership must be grounded in justice, in honesty, and in the reverence of God,” adding that, “If we want a just Ghana, we must be just in leadership.”

Highlighting five strengths of a great nation, he underscored the importance of the citizenry to a nation’s greatness.

The virtues of courage, of honesty, of discipline, of sacrifice, and of compassion are what we measure the greatness of any nation by. It is in these five strengths that the true power of our country, Ghana, resides. It is through these virtues that we will rise and prosper,”

We must build bridges and not barriers, for we are one people sharing one land and pursuing one identity and destiny,”
