NCC Partners with Berk’s Concept to Showcase Ghanaian Culture in the Diaspora

Written by on May 13, 2025

The National Commission on Culture (NCC) has solidified a landmark partnership with Berk Concept to promote Ghanaian arts, traditions, and locally made products among diaspora communities in the United States.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on May 12, 2025, marks a strategic effort to strengthen cultural ties and foster economic opportunities through large-scale festivals and events.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. Wakefield Ackuaku, the NCC has consistently championed initiatives that preserve and project Ghana’s rich heritage globally.

This latest collaboration with Berk’s Concept, an organization dedicated to celebrating Ghanaian culture through music, fashion, trade fairs, and festivals—will bring an immersive cultural experience to multiple U.S. cities in 2025.

A Festival of Ghanaian Heritage
The Berks Concept Ghana Music Festival 2025 is set to tour six major U.S. cities from May to August, featuring performances, exhibitions, and networking opportunities for Ghanaian artists, entrepreneurs, and culture enthusiasts. The festival will kick off at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) in Worcester, MA, from May 25–27, followed by a showcase at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, GA, from May 30 to June 1. The tour will then move to the Genasis Events Center in Orlando, FL (June 27–28), The Crocodile in Seattle, WA (July 25–26), H2O Events in Houston, TX (August 15), and conclude at Arlington Music Hall in Arlington, TX (August 25–27).

Strengthening Diaspora Connections
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Ackuaku highlighted the NCC’s commitment to engaging the diaspora as a key pillar of Ghana’s cultural diplomacy.

This partnership is more than just an event; it is a bridge connecting Ghanaian traditions with our brothers and sisters abroad,

he stated.

Through music, arts, and commerce, we are reinforcing our shared identity while creating opportunities for cultural exchange and economic growth.

The festival will not only showcase Ghanaian music and performances but also provide a platform for local artisans and businesses to market their products to an international audience. This aligns with the NCC’s broader vision of leveraging culture as a tool for sustainable development.

A Step Toward Global Cultural Influence
The collaboration between the NCC and Berk Concept signifies a growing trend of institutional support for diaspora-focused cultural initiatives. By bringing authentic Ghanaian experiences to the U.S., the festival aims to foster pride among Ghanaians abroad while introducing non-Ghanaians to the nation’s vibrant heritage.

As anticipation builds for the 2025 tour, stakeholders are optimistic that this initiative will pave the way for more partnerships that elevate Ghana’s cultural footprint worldwide.
